About Carissa
Carissa Hoe is a senior at Ranney School. During her junior year, she spent much of her time in hospitals due to family circumstances, where she witnessed firsthand the disparity in access to proper medical supplies. She realized that this inequality increases in rural and impoverished areas, as well as regions affected by natural disasters. Carissa hopes to use Bandage Buddies to connect students across New Jersey and the U.S. to reduce medical waste and provide essential medical supplies to those in need. At Ranney, Carissa is the captain of the school’s first girls-only robotics team and serves as Vice President of Girls in STEM. She is also the co-founder and co-president of Ranney’s HOSA chapter and has been an active member since 9th grade, competing in Sports Medicine, representing Marlboro High School. Additionally, Carissa competed in Healthcare Administration for FBLA, where she placed 5th. Outside of school, Carissa dedicates her free time to volunteering at hospitals, focusing on therapy for patients recovering from brain trauma injuries.
