About Evan

Evan Shor is a dedicated student at the Marine Academy of Science and Technology who exemplifies service, leadership, and environmental stewardship across all areas of his life. As Sophomore Class Vice President, President of the Finance Club, Co-President of the Diverse Voices Book Club, and Vice President of the Marine Environmental Science Club, he brings people together through inclusive leadership and a focus on community.

 

Evan also holds a leadership position in his school’s Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC), where he helps manage academic operations and supports a culture of discipline and growth among cadets. His commitment to helping others extends beyond school. As a certified beach lifeguard, Evan promotes water safety and public service while deepening his connection to the environment. He contributes to marine research as a member of his school’s boat crew, helping collect data and guide underclassmen in fieldwork. Evan’s recognition as a Rutgers Borlaug Scholar reflects his dedication to science-driven solutions to global challenges.

 

Balancing academics with athletics, he competes on the varsity rowing and tennis teams and teaches rowing to younger students. Whether in the classroom, on the water, or in leadership roles, Evan is guided by a deep sense of purpose, striving to make a lasting, positive impact through mentorship, teamwork, and service.
